A Short Book Review

I picked up a small paperback book at my Sister-in-Law's house.  She always has some inspirational reading around, especially on the bedside table.

Since sleep does not come easily for me, I idly began to read. It was an easy read because the chapter style is basically a complete short story per chapter.

The title  caught my eye, especially the word "coincidences." Regardless of whether, or not, you believe Biblical miracles occur today, the first definition by Webster, the expansive definition of miracles in the English language would include coincidences which I never considered until now.

After reading this book, I realized how many similar coincidences have occurred in my life. Some might put the label "fate" on a few  of these, especially if it has a sad connotation, and perhaps that is applicable.

Although a spiritually uplifting read, the stories do not espouse any particular belief system, even though the authors appear to be of Jewish faith. There are stories involving other beliefs.

I would classify the book as non-fiction, and definitely a good read for those with little time for a long sit. I read the book, usually 2-3 chapters at a time in about 10 days, maybe less.

The link below and the photo above are from Amazon's web site, permissible when I was an Amazon Associate. [This post has been in draft two weeks.]

I had to discontinue the Associate membership due to perceived conflicts with Blogger, or maybe my ignorance in usage. Nevertheless, I love Amazon.com and will continue to reference them. The book, I'm sure available from a multiplicity of sources, so choose your favorite.

Several chapters are displayed in the link below. ENJOY!

Small Miracles: Extraordinary Coincidences from Everyday Life (v. 1) (Paperback)~ Yitta Halberstam (Author), Judith Leventhal (Editor), Bernie S. Siegel (Author) "I don't know if it's the hard-nosed reporter in me or the incurable romantic, but for some strange reason that I cannot fully explain, I..." (more)
Key Phrases: New York, Herr Mueller, Long Island (more...)

I have to be in the right mood to swallow these nuggets of truth. So, I avoid them. I do believe there are a lot of coincidences that seem purposeful; still, hard for me to swallow the whole thing.

It does look like a wonderful uplifting book! I'll keep an eye out for it! Glad you are getting the blog stuff sorted...that's too bad that the Amazon widget caused such problems! Hope you are having a wonderful week! Love, Janine Xo

Pretty sure we all have occurances in our lives that we can't begin to explain. Sounds like interesting reading.
Thanks for the tip about the Amazon widget. I was thinking about it for I do a lot of shopping through them. Sure don't want to upset Blogger so I will keep them separate.

Addendum to my comments about Amazon Associates program and the book. Before all of you flee from using the tool, I should have added I attribute a lot of my difficulties to using Microsoft IE8 which seems to complicate my identifying the source of many of blogger's problems.

Since Google (Blogger) and Microsoft are in very direct competition with each other, I suspect there is no hurry to make everything compatible by either entity.

I also should have mentioned the book is an easy read, and like Sometimes LIFE HAPPENS and is not a miracle. However, it is interesting the few "good news" stories by our current media often involve some of these type stories.

I was looking for a good book to give my mother for mother's day, and this looks like a winner. Thanks so much for the review! I hope you are well and enjoying springtime in Arkansas! :-)

I like to watch the stars or the moon on nights I have problems sleeping.

Even though my kids are getting older they love it when I take time in out of our busy school day to read a short story.

I am going to keep my eyes open for this one. I think it would be nice for all of us mostly for those tough schools days :)

Or, as a lyricist so nicely said: "Impossible things are happening every day!"
