Do Not Keep Count

Late one night last week when I could not sleep, I watched a heart-warming dog (of course) story on Animal Planet. Since I was drifting in and out of sleepdom, I do not remember the title or even the entire story.

But the last four words of the story hit me, as to why we animal lovers, especially dogs, dote on our pets.

The man in the story was summarizing his passion for his dog(s), and mentioned their devotion and unconditional love of their owners, no matter how we fail: we may forget to feed them, ignore them, even take anger out on them. "They do not keep count!"

What a simple description of how we should treat each other. Almost every moral and religious law has a similar concept, but we, somehow, miss the boat.

I will be absent a lot the next 2-3 weeks, traveling. May drop in as opportunity may present itself.

Have a fun time traveling. Enjoy the change in scenery. Yes, we humans are entirely too busy keeping count.

That is a telling comment. I would have tried to live by it if I'd been conscious of it.

enjoy your travels. Take lots of beautiful photos.

Aww, good for you but bad for us.
Have a wonderful time and take pictures. See ya when you get back.
No argument about keeping score. Such a waste of time and temperment.

The purpose of the trip, a family funeral, is not "fun" but visiting with family and friends will soften the event.

At our age, so often, funerals are family reunions, of sorts. Plus you usually meet new family members or their friends.

We have not yet received a call, but we are informed it is very near.

Thanks for the comments on "counting." Once in a great while, the idiot box (TV) has a line that evokes a response in me, when you cut the butter of "reality" shows, politics, heresay and smear.

Often this moment is captured in what I call the specialty channels..

It is starting to warm up and we are all scattering like a bunch of chickens to tend our needs. I have bought flowers that need to be planted, but not until after Easter, and new plans for this and that. Have a great time on your journeys and I hope they are not all health related.

We have made plans to go to New Mexico for the balloon deal in October and hope to get to the coast in April or May. I would love to go back to Mountain Home or Air? I can't remember it has been such a long time.

God grant you journey mercies and be with you on our trips.

I like about what you said about not dogs keeping count. That is such a great attribute!

I am trying so hard at times.. people we come in contact with can be such a pain in the butt and yet we are to forgive and be merciful just as He, our God is.

I do aspire to come back refreshed and start on a new slate each morning.. but in most cases, they are still such a pain ;(

See you when you get back. I enjoyed the interview with Luckie. She is, indeed, a lucky dog.

Yep, if people were more like dogs, the world would be a better place.

Yesterday was 70 degrees and sunny, today it's only 43 now and light rain falling. We won't get any snow though, around here, thank goodness.

Hope you enjoyed your travels. I am going to church and lunch a little later.

Happy Spring!

Renie

Hey there goodmorning...I saw you just were at my site and I wanted to say hello.
Yeah it was nice being with an ole friend...she has been upset with me for a while now because I never see her..I hate to admit it but I have kind of turned into a hermit.
So when are you going to do a story for my Blogazine..lol
Would love to have you
Take care and I hope the sun is out today like it is here
