Blue Sky and Sun Day

Normally, Sunday is Slider Sunday for me but today I could not resist a short post for Monday.

Although leaving home for church services in rain-free cloudy weather, I observed glimmers of hope for seeing sun today. I was not disappointed this afternoon.

How appropriate: Sun on SUN Day and some Blue Sky thrown in for good measure. A rainbow would have been that little hors d' oeuvres of life, but I am assuredly peachy pleased.

Unlike Noah I had no doves to test the receding waters, but then the covenant of Noah was no flood ever again would destroy every living thing in the entire world.

A happy camper am I, for at least one day. How can you beat sunshine and 75 degrees???

SO I've been humming one of my favorite old time joyous hymns about sunshine. I found a YOUTUBE rendition for your listening pleasure--Sorry! Breathe a sigh of relief-I have no recordings of myself. In a much younger life I learned to sing a cappella, in school, church and a quartet for weddings and funerals (not much difference in the latter music).
Asthma, chronic bronchitis and COPD inhalers and drugs have severely limited my voice, but not my JOY.

Eliza Edmunds Hewitt, an US songwriter, penned 1,743 known hymns. Among her many hymns I love are Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown? and When We All Get to Heaven.

Another US songwriter and favorite of mine, Frances J. Crosby, known as Fanny Crosby, penned over 8000 hymns. Crosby was blind shortly after birth.

THERE IS SUNSHINE IN MY SOUL TODAY
[YouTube Mormon Tabernacle Choir link]
Text: Eliza E. Hewitt, Music: John R. Sweney

Refrain (Chorus)
O there's sunshine, blessed sunshine,
While the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face
There is sunshine in my soul.

Verses 1-4
There is sunshine in my soul today,
More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
For Jesus is my light.

There is music in my soul today,
A carol to my King;
And Jesus, listening, can hear
The song I cannot sing.

There is springtime in my soul today,
For when the Lord is near
The dove of peace sings in my heart,
The flowers of grace appear.

There is gladness in my soul today,
And hope, and praise, and love,
For blessings which He gives me now,
For joys laid up above.

My fingers and toes are tapping after listening to this song!

If the sun does not shine on Monday I'll play it again!

[Until I figure the photo muddle out, I may be leaving photos at top of post.]

We didn't actually get sunshine but the earth got brighter gray yesterday. You just knew the sun was somewhere. Do hope today to mow my last section of grass which has leaped out of the ground with all this rain.
Loved that songs lyrics.
Wonder if we will get mosquitoes with all this water?

We had clouds and spotty rain...but clouds and spotty rain is what we needed...actually needed more rain than spots, but you know how that goes! Lovely post!

AR Patti: hope mosquito season is over. We haven't had many this year, but we've removed several sources of standing water of constantly damp ground.

I nearly got lost out there in you tube land listening to gospel music. You need to check out Judy's place. She is Living on the Other Side of the Hill.

Love the blue sky. We rarely have them that blue these days with the smog and pollution. It isn't the sky I remember from childhood.

I've always loved that song. Another sunny song that is dear to my heart is "Heavenly Sunlight." My grandpa used to sing it all the time. It was definitely one of his favorites. Do you know it? Here are the words:

Walking in sunlight all of my journey;
Over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said, “I’ll never forsake thee,”
Promise divine that never can fail.

Refrain

Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,
Flooding my soul with glory divine:
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

Shadows around me, shadows above me,
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the Light, in Him is no darkness;
Ever I’m walking close to His side.

Refrain

In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,
Pressing my way to mansions above;
Singing His praises gladly I’m walking,
Walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.

Refrain

Sandi" did someone pay your ransom so you can get out of Facebook?

Renie:It was an altogether lovely Sunday, my favorite day of the week.

Silver and Amber Star: Glad you enjoy the hymns on YouTube. I was surprised how many I found. I worried a tad about copyrights, especially how on earth the Gaithers were on there. However, I referred to, and did not copy them.

Cheffie Mom & Sweetie Pie: One reason I love gospel hymn is the lyrics as opposed to more formal music used such as recessionals, processionals, etc.

The saga continues over in my neck of the woods. The neighbors came and went and said they were going to cut the roof off and cut the sides down to some height. I had my hands full with Pedro who showed up just after they got here. I negotiated with him to mow the yard, and what my husband actually wanted was for him to trim the shrubs. I feel we need both services and a really good dictionary. :)

Today has been a bad one with the methotrexate. I was really surprised when I woke this morning, because I haven't felt this rough in a good while from it.

It just helps to laugh. We have to because it could be so terrible with the in laws. The lady who comes in to help them in the morning called today and mil had missed her chair and slipped to the floor. We got 911 to get her up. My mil wouldn't let the helper help. She was afraid she would hurt herself and not be able to come back, plus she probably just wanted to sit for a minute and take stock of how all the parts were feeling. I'm pretty sure she will be sore and stiff tomorrow.

We had fierce storms last night and a bunch more rain. It feels actually cold outside today. It is 62 right now and has been all day.

Gotta jet. Put some chicken on for chicken soup and need to check on it. I'm going to try some. Might be back with the crackers and 7 UP though.

When my dad died it was terrible too. He had bladder cancer and it was awful for him.

We will all hang in and hope for the best for ourselves, k.

At night, I've had to bring my hibiscus in. That's how cold we are. I felt warmer reading the hymn lyrics though.
