OUT TO LUNCH

Because of a litany of appointments and duties, as well as another light (Thank the Lord!) chronic bronchitis bout, I am "out to lunch" for a few days, but will be reading and, in some cases, lurking among all of you.

Hmm, "out to lunch" may not be the best description...as one of my duties is to re-organize my diet approach as it is stalemated. Some changes in our daily life routine has upset the diet and exercise wagon, which I need to reset, to accommodate my current needs.

Meanwhile I post two photos, (I missed FOTO Friday).

The photo of myself is cropped from a 2002 photo. I am trying to find time to "stitch" it and Luckie's together for my "About Me" part of my blog. Although taken at my heaviest, that's characteristic of most of my adult life, so might as well go with it.

The Marigolds is a "Straight Out of the Camera" photo. I don't know why I love this picture, as it is somewhat mundane. After a shower, it was a last minute shot that caught my eye on the way back into the house....totally unplanned and hastily composed.

It would benefit from some editing insofar as lighting. It was an overcast day which some film photographers call "losing the light." Digital photographers can "find" the light through digital "darkroom" photo editing software.

Hope you feel better soon. I'm having a flare so am taking a day to rest...I guess. Need to quit typing and start watching tv, my hands and about everything hurts right now.

I like the picture of the marigolds, because it looks like life persevering in a sort of not exactly hostile area, but a hardscrabble one. They bloom in spite of all that is around...they are tough little flowers...sort of like you.

BTW...the naked ladies are trying to come up already. My husband planted mine and we potted up three for my cousin. All look like they are doing well.

Good for you for taking time off. I loved the previous post, about old folks too difficult for their own good. I agree with you, most of the sad cases are very, very difficult.

Your marigolds are alive?? Mine drown and are brown sticks that need to be done with.
Sorry you haven't been up to par and are way too busy. Do what you have to do. Not going anywhere.

Between my husband and me, there are two physician appts, two exercise classes plus I need to work on treadmill too. While at eye doctor in nearby town Wed. I have something else I need to do but failed to write down--Hope it comes back to me. <:~)

The marigolds were free-seeded I think from some whiskey barrel ones. We destroyed two barrels and contents were spread around. Their location is very near one of barrels.

We are home of Husband's appointment in Harrison, about 100 mi round trip. I did fairly well eating out-over half plate veggies one spare rib BUT had to have 2T bread pudding with 1/4 C soft serve.

It is green peppers and tomatoes for supper with maybe some crackers.

One of the things that helps me in fall and winter: the craving for ice cream is nil and I pretty much avoid all other sweets.

Amber Star: I hope Arkansas-Pat reads your comment.

My red ones are pretty but not as prolific as the pinks.

Well, I have been a prepetual lurker a lot, and am much more active on Facebook.

You look nice in the picture, and the marigolds look pretty and vibrant.

Hope you feel better.

Hugs,

Renie

I guess my comment didn't come through...I wanted to say that I understand about getting back on the diet/exercise bandwagon, it can be a challenge. I wish you well! And I like the marigold shot, the way the colors swirl into the flowers. I think the lighting is perfect; nothing is too dark or too bright. Possibly it would benefit from some cropping...
Have a great day!

It is a nice picture. Sort of like the beauty in the flowers and the beast in the disturbed soil.

I love the sharp smell of nasturtiums---isn't it funny how a picture can cause the memory of a smell?

And that would have been an even more interesting comment if you had posted a picture of nasturtiums! Definitely gaga today.

Odd that you would say that about the residents of Arkansas.

My mentor from Batesville was a well-known type designer and print designer in Chicago and he and wife moved to Arcansas and his clients wanted him to charge them less for the same work. Why? Because it was unheard of to pay the same rates to anybody outside of Chicago. And nobody of any skill lived in Arkansas. He always had a ball telling me some of these stories.
