A Tad Tipsy

Being a tad tipsy is a relatively rare event in my everyday experiences, since I am essentially a teetotaler.

However, the ear problem mentioned in a previous post seems to be instigating a state of being disoriented, indicating an inner ear disturbance, rather than the more common middle ear infection..

My physician said the ear appeared to be infected. After a "water gun" treatment (her description) did not clear the debris, she gave me an antibiotic-steroid prescription ear drop sample to use for three days and return in one week.

Despite no pain, I have this allusion of being inebriated, dizzy and somewhat nauseous with deafening, persistent "ringing, buzzing sound 24/7. To be inoccuous (I hope), it is driving me CRAZY!

Today my Toyota Highlander needed a routine checkup; I had made an appointment with a dealership in Harrison AR, about 50 miles away. My husband drove as it was about an 100-mile round trip. I didn't need a patrolman to stop me for erratic driving. I'd have a hard time telling the above story.

However, I should pass the Breathalyzer test, but walking a straight line--debatable.

I have several duties on my calendar before my follow-up appointment Sept. 15. Fortunately, all are in my small town where I am well known for being sober...I think.

And to further disturb my day, Luckie snitched a package of Voortman's Sugar Free Peanut Butter Wafers, eating the entire contents of an opened package. My husband thinks there were only 1-3 wafers left.

I've read where some artificial sweeteners are near deadly for dogs. This package had a substance called sorbitol, a sugar alcohol. Sorbitol's side effect in humans is mainly diarrhea. In dogs, I don't know. However, it is 12 hours later, and I haven't noticed anything unusual.

Until I sober up.............yeah, I know what you are thinking...likely story.

I've had a similar effect occaionally, with 'directional' dizzyness. I was okay if I kept head straight ahead and upright, but woe was me, once it tilted off the vertical. Hope yours clears soon.

Oh, that is not fun at all. Funny, when I was drinking, wobbly was the desired result. When you are not tipsy, it is quite disturbing.
Hope it clears up soon.
Music helps drown out the ringing. Ignoring also works though is harder. Good luck and be well soon.

Your post reminded me of a blog I read today. Check out this post, it may be helpful.

jinksy and AR Patti: I decided I'm nearly as bad as I thought, because after reading Cheffie Mom's referral (see in her comments) I really got worse just thinking about it! The blog was one nominated for post of the day by authorblog.

Actually I'm some better except for buzzing which I have a tad anyway. When I can remove the cotton plug maybe I won't be as deaf...I hope.

I try to look for something positive so here goes: this is nearly painless as far as earaches I remember from my childhood.

Another strange thing is I'm sleepy and feel asleep for a short nap a few minutes ago. No fever, no drugs, just kinda lazy feeling.

You should try to get more rest and sleep in a little more then.. and shouldn't worry too much abt Luckie too.

btw, when you're feeling better, could you help me with something? Did you remember you mentioned about some massages you know about for cancer patients on my blog? I have a friend who just like to know a little more- Are there any websites she could go to to read more about such offerings?

Also i hope they aren't too rigorous and do have serious considerations for the patients special need or conditions??

thks, Carol.

Oooo...that inner ear thing is just awful, from what I hear. Thank goodness it has never been a problem for me....hope it gets much better for you soon.

Is Luckie still feeling ok? I'd have thought there might have been some after effects.

We are gtting some rain and cool weather today! That is something that perks us up a bunch after the heat of this past summer.

I'm sorry to hear (no pun intended) that your ear is bothering you. Your symptoms can't be a pleasant experience. I hope it's all cleared up soon.

I'm glad that you decided against driving, while giddy under the influence of anything. You're a trooper to be able to be funny about something that must be very annoying. Hope you're better soon.

I'm teetotal too and I had that ear thing - couldn't drive for 6 weeks.
