A SHORT REPRIEVE I HOPE

Luckie is ill and I have a number of obligations I need to take care of. Vet thinks Luckie has chronic erhlichiosis or maybe early kidney failure. I am having to keep track of her water intake and several other things. She vacillates between lethargic and her old feisty personality so it is hard to nail down the exact reason.

Will keep you posted.  NitwIT1

Oh,no. I hope it is just a temporary illness.

Even though I've never met LUCKIE, he has a special place in my heart. After all, we do share the same name! I do hope it's just a temporary setback and nothing life-threatening. After my last dog, I swore off anymore pets but I do miss having one around sometimes. Hope to hear good news soon.

I hope if it is erhlichiosis that they can treat it and cure her. She and you are in my prayers for a quick recovery. Let us know.

If this is erhlichiosis, it is a repeat, or better said she wasn't cured in July. It can become chronic and at this point the vet and and I am on this page.

Otherwise she may be in early kidney failure. But her urinary specific gravity increased to normal after two days of antibiotics.

The same day I picked her up I met a women outside the vet's office who had a dog with chronic erhlichiosis. She said they repeated doxcyline for nearly two years until they got two negative tests in a row.

Erhlichiosis is an incidious tiok borne disease, the symptoms of which are vague. I have no idea how long she may have had it before the first diagnosis.

And it makes me a tad angry how much money I've spent on tick prevention!

I have had Luckie home 3 days. She is a bit more perky but some mornings rejects her food and other days her usually 'snarf it up fast mode.'
